Summer

As always there’s been a lot going on. The new job I acquired in May has been amazing and still is–and I now have one more technical certification down. In addition to that, I’ve now learned how to mount a TV to the wall–a feat I’ve shied away from attempting for some time–but I am more than pleased with the results:

Also, one of my dearest friends is moving to New York in about a month to pursue her dreams of essentially building her own empire (lol–but no, seriously, she is). And while I am staying behind here in the City of Sins, I am more than keen to continue work on building my own. So far the results are optimistic and the journey is definitely turning out to be quite entertaining among other things.

I’ll be in Dallas the last week of this month and probably in California soon after. But I need the break lol.. things are definitively beginning to bubble up. Events feel as though they are culminating in something substantially life-altering. In a good way. I just hope I am capable of weathering the change. And I do hope there will be time for more freelance/consulting work in the near future. There are quite a few prospects already lined up 🙂

Things are about to get quite interesting.

But I am looking forward to it.

2015 Office Redesign

So things have been going fantastically at work–I even got my own office! It was quite barren and empty to begin with, and there were harsh, lifeless overhead fluorescent bulbs, but with a little work, things turned out a whole lot better.

The only requirements were that the two original chairs, the bookcase and the file cabinet remain (company policy), so I had to work around those.

Things that made the biggest difference:

  • Great lighting – I thought I hated the paint color, but it was really the lights that were the problem.
  • Modern wall clock – $24 on Amazon.
  • Easily accessible cookies – Oatmeal raisin.

2014 Psychiatric Office Redesign

In May of 2014 I received the breakthrough opportunity of a lifetime: to be flown to New York to redesign a Psychiatrist’s office. It was my first large-scale design job, and really, the job where I learned the most about time management, negotiation, vendor management, all-nighters and what it really takes to get the job done.

2 weeks, 10 sleepless nights (we works as much as we could around the hours of the practice), and a new floor later, the job was finished! At the end of it all, the design was a success and the owner, Dr. Francis Hayden, loved the work. I’ve follow up on multiple occasions in the days since, and the staff report that patients find the mood calm and relaxing and that the response from patients and other staff in the building has been overwhelmingly positive.

I am so glad to have been able to be a part of this project. Dr. Hayden takes great pride in the time and effort he puts into improving his community, and I am happy to have assisted him in his endeavors.

2012 Apartment Redesign

I moved into my current apartment back in November of 2012. I started designing that following January, but I never truly finished the work. I had intended for there to be two rows of floating shelves utilized as a modern bookcase in the bedroom, but those were never bought nor installed. Although my aesthetic has shifted toward more pastel hues and light, airy moods, I still enjoy the design.

Lots of dust. Good memories.
